Ultrasound Interventional Case Sharing Episode 1 | The First Case of Domestic Nanoknife Treatment for Liver Malignancy
Publisher:alpmed Share:

In the afternoon of January 11, 2022, the first ultrasound interventional nano-knife treatment for liver malignancy was successfully completed. The team of Prof. Wang Hui from the Ultrasound Department of Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University (JJUH) was responsible for this treatment.During the therapy, High Voltage Steep Pulse Minimally Invasive Therapeutic Apparatus was used, which was developed and manufactured by Shanghai Yuanshan Medical Technology Co.,Ltd(Alpmed).The tumor ablation surgery was successfully completed for a 64-year-old liver cancer patient through ultrasound-guided puncture.

Brief Description of The Case

The patient was a 64-year-old male with a malignant tumor of the liver and multiple intrahepatic metastases, with severe destruction of liver function after multiple thermal ablations.

Surgical Procedure

Pre-operative ultrasonography of the liver mass showed high enhancement in the arterial phase

The procedure started at 5:00 p.m. Under general anesthesia, Prof. Wang Hui used percutaneous puncture and completed the needle placement of the wrapped tumor in 5 minutes, followed by ablation, which was carried out under real-time ultrasound monitoring.

During the ablation process, there were obvious hypoechoic changes near the electrode needle, but the tumor as a whole showed no obvious echogenic changes.

The procedure took only 40 minutes.

After the operation, Prof. Wang Hui said that the advantages of NanoKnife ablation are gradually being recognized by the market, and he also affirmed the functions of the Yuanshan Medical Elle Easy Steep Pulse Minimally Invasive Therapy System used in this operation. The unique advantages of clear scope of surgical ablation, short treatment time and real-time monitoring can be applied to treat tumors near important structures such as hepatoportal bile ducts, which brings gospel to patients. The professor said that this trial is the first surgery and the patients will be followed up with seven days post-operative, one month post-operative and corresponding mid- and late-term visits to track the medium- and long-term efficacy of the patients, and he also hopes to conduct more case explorations.
