On September 17, 2022, Alpmed partnered with the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University to successfully hold the "Nanoknife Clinical Application Seminar" in order to better carry out the clinical application of IRE innovation technology. The conference was led by Professor Zhou Zhigang from the Radiology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, with Professor Dong Junqiang serving as the conference host. The seminar focused on the latest developments and clinical applications of the "domestic Nanoknife", with a focus on the clinical application of Nanoknife in liver malignancy and pancreatic malignancy. Professors Xiao Yueyong, Wei Yingtian, Li Xiaoyong, Wang Zhenyu and Lu Taiying from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were invited, as well as medical experts in the field of radiological intervention and surgery from within Henan Province, to explore the latest progress in the treatment of "domestic Nanoknife".

During the conference

The meeting began with an opening speech by Director Wang from the Medical Affairs Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Director Wang stated that the treatment of tumors in China is still a challenging issue, despite the many available methods. Survival rates need to be improved, and as a large comprehensive medical institution, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University needs new technologies and businesses like NanoKnife to support its efforts. NanoKnife is a new tumor ablation technology that has certain advantages in treating tumors in special areas. By developing reasonable treatment plans based on the patient's condition, we can maximize the benefits for patients and make our due contribution to the health of Henan and the Central Plains.

As an important part of this conference, the plaque awarding ceremony for the tumor IRE ablation skills research base of the NanoKnife "Pathfinder" program was held immediately after the opening of the conference. The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University has officially become the first tumor IRE ablation skills research base of the NanoKnife "Pathfinder" program in China. The project was jointly initiated by the "Interventional Minimally Invasive Treatment Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association and the Interventional Minimally Invasive NanoKnife Tumor Ablation Society of the Chinese Medical Education Association", with the support of Alpmed. The training course will adopt small-class boutique teaching, and the course design will also closely follow the needs of the students, so that every student can smoothly carry out clinical operations after the training.

During the award ceremony, Professor Xiao Yueyong, the chairman of the Minimally Invasive Therapy Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association, stated in his speech that the committee will work together with more domestic medical institutions and Alpmed to establish a tumor IRE ablation skills research base, promote the application of IRE innovative technology in clinical practice, meet the learning and training needs of more doctors, and improve the standardization of tumor Nanoknife ablation treatment. Professor Zhou Zhigang expressed his gratitude for everyone's recognition and, as a hired teaching expert for the Nano-Knife "Pioneer" program, he will fully promote the landing of IRE ablation skills training courses and enable more experts and scholars to pay attention to and master this innovative technology, bringing hope to more patients in need.

This award ceremony marks a good start for the national training base of the Nano-Knife "Pioneer" program for tumor IRE ablation skills, and it effectively supplements the strength of the Central Plains region, playing a positive role in improving the clinical application level of nano-knife ablation technology in the region.

During the teaching session, Professor Wei Yingtian from the Chinese PLA General Hospital gave a detailed lecture on the clinical application and parameter settings of the Nano-Knife, while Professor Li Xiaoyong from the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University explained the clinical application and precautions of the Nano-Knife in the treatment of unresectable hilar cholangiocarcinoma. Professor Wang Meng and Professor Pan Yuanwei from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University also gave wonderful lectures based on actual cases of tumors growing in different locations. During the discussion session, the attending experts spoke and discussed enthusiastically, and the atmosphere was lively.

Alpmed has set up a Nanoknife operation observation and experience platform , allowing experts and scholars to observe and experience the cutting-edge Nanoknife equipment firsthand during the conference. During the tea break, engineers from the Clinical Medicine Department demonstrated the real and effective "non-thermal" ablation through an egg white experiment, and many experts at the conference observed and experienced the operation on site.
